The Retiree Roadrunner bus is coming to Madison, rallying retired Americans to come together to learn more about the election topics that should mean the most to seniors.
The Alliance for Retired Americans Voter Education rally starts at 1 p.m. Friday at the Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park St.
The failing economy and its effect on retirees will be a hot topic at the rally, according to Leon Burzynski, Wisconsin president of the alliance.
"The whole Bush/McCain idea of privatizing social security and putting retirement into the stock market is a gamble I'm not willing to take," Burzynski said. "We were told growing up to only put money in the market that we could afford to lose and now it's a matter of policy debate to suggest gambling our retirement."
The Retiree Roadrunners are eight-passenger vans from the alliance filled with voter information and info on Social Security, Medicare and other issues, with the vans traversing the country to visit town hall meetings, pancake breakfasts and other gatherings.
